Choose a challenge !

Dernière mise à jour : 17 avr. 2020

There are so many challenges you can take to stay active during lockdown. Here are 10 challenges you can try to boost your English, to be creative, to be healthy, to show you care or just for fun as social distancing is dragging on for a few more weeks... and let's face it we sometimes get bored. The most important thing is to do activities you enjoy doing or you fancy having a go at and remember you don't have to be good at something to try it =D

1 ) My favourite challenge to help you boost your oral skill is the Lockdown Speaking Challenge set by mmmEnglish that teaches you the imitation technique and helps you voice your feelings on social-distancing, home-schooling and having to stay at home. By the way, have you thought about what you're going to do when social-distancing is over?

2) Do you get bored staying at home? Well, try this!

My second favourite challenge is the Getty Museum Art Challenge

Here are some more examples to inspire you to have a go at this fun challenge.

3) Trevor Noah has a look at crazy lockdown trends and challenges that people have started. Would you like to try Simone Biles's Take Your Pants Off? What about dressing up to take the trash out?

4) Here's a PE teacher who's giving her pupils a Home Olympics challenge so they stay active

5) If you're feeling a bit worried or stressed, you may want to take this Yoga Fitness Challenge to help you relax and let go.

Be careful this video is for intermediate yogi. Never stretch your body till it hurts.

6) Fed up of watching TV? Trying to keep your screen time in check?

Here are some indoor games you can make yourself if you're into DIY

7) Why don't you learn a new skill? What about knitting? I know, the weather is quite warm at the moment, but knitting is actually very relaxing and you'll get good results especially if you use big needles and thick yarn.

8) Well, music can soothe your soul and spread smiles, too. What about having a concert or party at home for your family? Get everybody to sing and dance along!

9) Not into silly challenges? That's OK. The Coronavirus pandemic has shown us that when we stay at home and things slow down, the air we breathe is much cleaner. Show you care about our environment and take part in the Earth Day Challenge

Greenpeace USA needs you to join them in a virtual Earth Day strike from your own homes!

They have a special project in the works, and they need your input!

Here’s how you can participate:

1. Make a sign, this can be on a piece of printer paper, some cardboard, or a poster, whatever you have available to you.

Need inspiration? Here are some great Greenpeace-y sample messages:

  • Climate can’t wait

  • People over polluters

  • End the age of oil

  • Save the whales

  • Protect the oceans

  • Keep it in the ground

  • Climate action now

  • Clean power, green jobs

  • Strike. Divest. Vote

  • People power will prevail

  • Water is life

  • Just transition

  • We are unstoppable, another world is possible

2. Find a good spot for your photo.

Preferably with a blank wall to minimize background distraction — we want to be able to read your sign clearly!

3. Take a horizontal picture of yourself holding the sign!

4. Submit your picture by filling out the form on the Greenpeace USA website.

The deadline for submissions is this weekend midnight PST on Sunday, April 19, 2020.

So, get cracking!

5. Check back on social media on April 22nd to see the final product.

Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to make sure you don’t miss it.

Thanks for participating — we’re excited to see your signs and celebrate together!

10) Finally, here's a Guess-The-Rhyme challenge with Room on the Broom

This book was written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler and has been translated into 21 different languages so far. The author and the illustrator have already worked together on several successful children’s books. “The Gruffalo” is their most known piece and was probably the breakthrough for the two artists.

The witch had a cat and a hat that was black
And long ginger hair with a braid down her ______
How the cat purred and how the witch grinned
As they sat on the broomstick and flew through the _______
But how the witch wailed and how the cat spat
When the wind blew so wildly, it blew off the ______
DOWN!!!! cried the witch, and they flew to the ground
They searched for the hat, but no hat could be _______
Then out of the bushes on thundering paws
There bounded a dog with the hat in his _______
He dropped it politely and eagerly said
(As the witch pulled the hat firmly down on her _______ )
"I am a dog as keen as can be
Is there room on the broom for a dog like _______ ?"

And now watch the whole story and see if you guessed the rhymes right. Enjoy!

Room on the Broom is a 2012 British-German 3D stop motion computer animated short TV film based on the picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. The film was nominated for the Best Animated Short Film at the 2014 Academy Awards. The story is narrated by Simon Pegg.
